It was very early morning and I have a habit of reading papers, I found an article drafted about a novel friendship who deliberately sacrificed his own life to obtained great results for a country. later when I started collecting information about the person, got to know that he was an unrecognized best friend of ferocious Mr.Bhagat Singh, the name itself explains what means to India and his service, probably we should make an extension to this blog as it needs special post about his biography. Let's travel to live with his friend, Batukeswar Dutt.
Batukeswar Dutt was born in 1910, Bengal presidency. From childhood, he was a very active and repulsive boy as his thoughts and actions preceded freedom and revolution which makes him special in his school days. One thing which has ignited his revolution thinking in Kanpur where Indians should not walk or roam on roads and it was only British people who were allowed to do things as their own. Dutt was very much frightened himself as he was a small kid and unable to do against them. As Dutt grew up with his repulsive mind and revolutionary ideas he met with Suresh Chandra Battacharya, editor on PRATAP newspaper. Dutt used to attend strikes and meetings with freedom fighters which makes him involved in more freedom fight moments and strikes and also met many freedom fighters and one of the gatherings where he met a stupendous person, Bhagat Singh which got bring them into the same boat by their ideologies and aspirations of revolution for freedom.
Bhagat Singh and Batukeswar Dutt were always discussed revolutionary thoughts and their friendship was thicken strongly in the period of 1924, Kanpur was flooded. He describes that they were on the shore of the Ganga river and holding lanterns to help victims of the flood. Later the big moment of Public Safety Bill and Trade Dispute Bill- bills which came into force to prevent and eradicate strikes against the British government. When these bills were pipeline in the legislative assembly to announce it officially soon then automatically freedom fighters will be suppressed and freedom fighting moments will be completely stopped, By this information, Singh was desperate to stop this bills to pass in assembly, usually Singh had connections with other countries which supports India by that he got to know about Velian bomb attack which made him influenced to propose this bomb attack in central legislative assembly agreed by other prominent freedom fighters then Singh started planning for execution, Initially plan was to implement bomb by Dutt, Sukhdev and Singh should attend conference meeting in USSR, presently Russia where it supports India in aspects of power and energy. But, unfortunately, the plan changed due to the cancellation to USSR by Singh then Dutt and Singh decide to plant a bomb in the assembly. It was 08 April 1929 when Singh, Dutt have exploded the bomb in visitors gallery with shouting slogans "Inquilab Zindabad" which creates chaos in the assembly and everyone went into a panic state where these two people were arrested as their plan to highlight their freedom fighting moment and gives an alert message to other people to give hope to fight for the country.
But they claimed to oppose two bills in the central legislative assembly and the death of Lala Lajpat Rai. The result of the bomb attack was not severe and many people were injured and no deaths. After the bomb attack, the British government declared life imprisonment to culprits when Dutt was asked to relieve as he didn't throw the bomb but he refused to that because Singh was his best friend of him and how can he left him in prison alone, By this words proven that true friendship will tend to anything for a friend but this type of friendship will be rare. Because maybe best friends help each other in hard times but only a very rare one was sacrificed his own life. Later, Dutt was shifted to Cellular jail located in Andaman & Nicobar Islands who was served nearly a long time in his life. During that time he was thinking about India to get set free from slavery and his beloved friend Singh probably this was most heart-touching I would rather consider because as his position was bad and ruining his life in jail but still thinking about India and Singh. As days passed on one-day sub jailer called him to pass information, at this point in time we thought it may be a letter from his family or maybe from his friend Singh but it was neither despite those it was disheartening news to India and even more to Dutt that Bhagat Singh was no more. Dutt was completely clueless and he didn't know how to react while returning to his cellular the presence of Singh was surrounded by him and he broke down into tears and gradually at the time of release he was affected with TB disease.
In 1947 after independence he was released and returned to India, He use to follow the regulations and ethics which were set by Singh because he decided that even after his absence in the physical world but still his ideologies and ethics should run as long it should be. But, he observed some changes in public and nature of leaders as the public forgot his name and political parties were in rush to create positions for themselves in newly created independent India. So, he withdrew from politics but never left the spirit of helping people and raising against wrong.
Dutt was decided to start his own business instead of waiting for aids, scholarships from the government, and actually, he didn't receive any of them. In process of registration once when he approached the commissioner. But he was insulted for asking him for identity proof and by knowing this Dr.Rajendra Prasad made him apologize for behaving. In 1964 his health condition was pathetic. Another person who was well known about Dutt was Chamanlal Azad who saw closely him in each and every phase of his life, was felt anger on government and wrote a letter stating that
"God has made mistake by producing a valiant man like Batukeswar Dutt. He is struggling to stay alive in every country for whose freedom he sacrificed his whole life".
Later, the Punjab government provides free treatment but unfortunately Dutt was soul was not to live and it seeks to reach his best friend Bhagat Singh. When Doctors expelled about his criticality Dutt asked his last wish to cremate him in the same place where his friend Bhagat Singh was cremated which is located at Hussainwala, Indo-Pakistan border along with mighty freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru.
Heart touching story right! we feel the same while in the process of presenting and this story doesn't mean of only patriotism but also the friendship between two persons which stood long lasting in such a way that even today we were reminiscing them.
